Steve Micallef
Steve Micallef (b.1986) aims at transmitting his perception of surroundings to the viewers, mainly of architectural spaces. He studied Art under the supervision of Mr Alfred J. Camilleri at Stella Maris College, Gzira (1997-2002), Ms Jessica Debattista at St Aloysius’ College 6th Form, B’Kara (2002-2004), and Mr Anton Grech at the University of Malta (2004-2005). He is currently reading for a degree in Architecture & Civil Engineering at the University of Malta. Steve has so far had a joint exhibition with Mark Muscat, also studying architecture, at the Teatru Manoel Courtyard in January 2007, as well as an exhibition at a BOV Branch on a smaller scale. Rough sketchy lines are evident in many of his paintings, giving a sense of freedom in style. He mainly uses watercolours together with sketching pencils or ink, and his palette mainly consists of pastel colours, mainly browns, with touches of reds and greens.
